Our Installation Process
What We Do for You
Before construction begins, we not only help you design your dream pool, but handle required preplanning activities and help guide you through the construction process. We pull zoning and building/electric permits needed for construction and we will schedule the Ohio Underground Protection Services (OUPS) to mark underground lines in your yard that could be damaged during the installation process. We also introduce you to qualified and reputable contractors that we frequently work with. From electricians, hardscapers, landscapers, to anyone else you might need, we can help you build a team to create your perfect backyard. If you’re interested in seeing what your backyard might look like before any construction begins, talk to one of our installation specialists about meeting with a 3D landscape designer!
During construction, we schedule and follow up on all inspections to guarantee a safe and proper pool installation. We also make customer communication a major priority to make sure you’re comfortable and informed throughout the process. Unlike many construction companies, we pride ourselves on maintaining clean, trash free job-sites to keep your property looking the best it can. Once the pool is filled, our service team will fire up your pumping station, perform the initial balancing of your water chemistry, and maintain the pool until all work is completed. Following this, we will provide you with a free ‘pool school’ where our service technicians will teach you everything you need to know about operating your equipment, maintaining clear water and chemistry, and anything else you may need to know so you can enjoy your pool for years to come.
We are also equipped to handle any post-construction needs you may run into! We have a full service department and offer pool opening and closing services in the Spring and Fall to save you the hassle. We offer free water testing at all of our storefront locations, showing you exactly what’s in your water and what it needs to find that perfect balance. Lastly, we are a Hayward warranty station for the Dayton-Cincinnati area, which allows us to offer our customers better warranties on any Hayward products sold by us.
Step 1: Get a Quote
Our installation process begins when your contact information is received by one of our installation specialists – an expert who will guide you through the installation process from start to finish. This can be done by either filling out our online contact form, calling one of our storefront locations, or by completing our online Get a Quote! form.
Once they receive your contact information, your installation specialist will call to discuss the areas we service, products we offer, installation pricing, and answer any questions you may have. Following this, they will schedule a time to visit your property and discuss the best designs for your unique yard. At the end of this visit, your installation specialist will provide you with quotes for any pool design(s) you might be interested in.
Step 2: Sign a Contract
After reviewing your installation quote(s) and choosing your dream design, your installation specialist will schedule a time and place to sign your installation contract. Need more before signing a contract? Ask your installation specialist about working with a 3D landscape design expert and see what your pool will look like before any work begins! Once the contract is signed, your deposit on the pool materials will lock in your spot on our installation schedule; this deposit is refundable until your pool’s materials are ordered from the manufacturer. Any changes made to the installation contract beyond this point may require you to sign a Change Order Form and may also result in a change in your pool installation pricing.
Step 3: Delivery & Excavation
Some time prior to your excavation date, our team members will start delivering the materials and equipment needed to install your pool. For fiberglass pools, this will consist of the underground lines, pumping station equipment, and any other special features or products purchased. A delivery for a vinyl liner pools will have all of this, plus the steel panels needed to build the pool frame. These materials and products can be stored in your garage or covered with a tarp in your backyard. Before your scheduled dig date, your installation specialist will visit your property to stake off the area of the pool and take depth measurements for our excavation contractor. The excavation process can take anywhere from a few hours to a few days depending on the size of the pool, presence of ground-water and rocks, or poor weather.
Step 4: Construction
Fiberglass Process
Once the excavation is complete, our construction team will set a gravel base for the pool shell to rest on. A day or two after excavation, the shell will be delivered on a flatbed truck and lifted into place with a crane. After shifting and leveling the shell to the proper dimensions, we will begin the backfill process that locks the shell into place. This is a steady process that involves setting gravel around the pool while simultaneously filling the pool with a water truck. Once the backfill reaches a certain height and the shell is locked in place, the underground lines are plumbed in and the conduit for the lights is run. At this point, your pool will be ready for bonding and scheduled for inspection. Once the bonding inspection passes, your backyard is ready for hardscapers to move in and start work on your patio. Around this time, your underground lines will be plumbed into your pumping station equipment, lights will be run, and any special features you purchase will be installed. Once the pumping station is completed, the electrician will be scheduled to wire everything in.
Vinyl Liner Process
Once excavation is complete, our construction team will begin building your custom pool design. They’ll start by moving the steel walls into place and bolting them together to build the frame of the pool. The frame will then be shifted and lifted to meet the proper dimensions and elevation. Once properly set, the frame will be secured in place with rebar and a concrete footer around the base. After this, the lines for your pool will be run, the lights set, and the bonding wire secured to the frame. After passing bonding inspection, your backyard is ready for hardscapers to move in and start work on your patio. Around this time, your underground lines will be plumbed into your pumping station equipment and you’ll be ready for an electrician to wire everything in. Next, our vermiculite crew will smooth the deep-end walls and floor of your pool in preparation for the liner. After the vermiculite base has had time to set, our liner experts will install the liner, begin to fill the pool, and set the face plates for ports, skimmers, and lights.
Step 5: Servicing & Pool School
Once your pool is filled, one of our service technicians will fire up your pumping station and begin balancing your water chemistry – at this point your pool is ready to swim! Once we have your water chemistry perfectly balanced, our service technician will schedule a time for your pool school. Your pool school will go over everything you need to know in order to keep your pool running smoothly and enjoy all the features it has to offer. Balancing water chemistry, keeping it clean, and how to properly use your equipment will all be covered in the pool school; we suggest taking notes or even a video so you’ll always have the information you need!
